Mindfulness practice can help improve your health and well-being and enhance your resilience when meeting life’s challenges.

The course will explore:

  • Understanding what mindfulness is and what benefits may arise from the practice
  • Utilizing a variety of mindfulness practices in everyday life
  • Developing a healthier relationship with your thoughts
  • Developing more balance with your emotions
  • Becoming more aware of your body and its intelligence
  • Moving from unskillful reactions to skillful responses
  • and more

The course will include mindfulness practice periods, didactic talks, question and answer periods, experiential exercises, small group relational practices, and large group discussions. It is appropriate for beginners as well as those with experience who want to refresh the fundamentals of their practice.

Location and Time:   Tuesdays, from 5:15-6:15pm in USC Norris/Norman Topping Tower (NTT 7409) on the HSC/Keck campus.

Teacher: Elliott Law, M.S. is a mindfulness facilitator with Mindful USC and a USC Center for Mindfulness Science steering committee member.  He established the Mindful USC Mindfulness Practice Group in Downtown and has led the group since 2015.  Additionally, co-facilitates the Silverlake Meditation Group and InsightLA’s LGBTQ+ Mindfulness practice group.

Elliott has studied mindfulness since 2011, maintains a daily mindfulness practice, and has over 45 days of silent residential retreat experience.  His practice also includes Ashtanga yoga.  Elliott is a graduate of InsightLA’s ten-month mindfulness facilitator training program and recently completed the 3-day intensive training for Mindful Performance Enhancement, Awareness and Knowledge (mPEAK) at UC San Diego School of Medicine.
