This is the foundational class for developing a mindfulness meditation practice. You may have heard reports of the power of mindfulness to help you be more present in your life, tame anxiety, and develop the capacity to respond rather than react to the challenges in life. Whether you are looking for instruction in how to begin a mindfulness practice, wanting to refresh an existing practice or seeking more training in the basics of mindfulness after taking an applied mindfulness class, please consider joining us. We will explore developing and incorporating an effective and ongoing mindfulness practice in your life. Topics include:

  • An overview of mindfulness
  • Mindfulness of the body
  • Obstacles to mindfulness
  • Working with anxiety and difficult emotions
  • Cultivating positive emotions
  • Working with difficult thoughts 
  • Bringing mindfulness into daily life

 

Teacher Bio:

Megan’s practice originates from the Zen Soto tradition of Shunryu Suzuki- roshi, in Sonoma County, California, where she learned from her father, a student of Suzuki-roshi. Today, she teaches the principals of Mindfulness and compassion for the self and others in order to live a more awake and joyful life. She is dedicated to offering a practice of care and kind attention to mind, body, and heart to help ease the stresses of our busy lives.
