LIFE IS A WILD RIDE!

Want to be able to handle difficult situations with less stress, pain and anxiety?

Want to be as kind to yourself as you are to dear friends who face disappointment, fear, and conflict?

Join a limited number (35) of students, staff and faculty for classes on:

MINDFUL SELF COMPASSION

MSC is an 8 week course with a half-day retreat, that teaches you how to:

• DECREASE anxiety

• DECREASE depression and stress

• INCREASE relationship satisfaction

• INCREASE healthy habits like diet and exercise

• INCREASE emotional wellbeing

MSC, a researched-based program, is an adventure and an experiment in self-discovery and self-transformation. You will learn over 25 simple ways that will enable you to call on your own inner resources to soothe yourself in times of stress or pain.

MEETING ON THURSDAYS, September 12 – October 31 from 12:00 – 2:30pm (2 hours and 30 minutes)
Room 203, in the University Religious Center building on the east side of campus.

Plus a silent half day retreat which will be explained on the first day of class.

Teachers:

JD Lloyd

JD Lloyd has been meditating seriously for 20 years. He became involved with Insight LA in 2003 and has regularly participated in weekly meditation groups and instructional programs since then. JD has completed specialized training programs to facilitate classes in Mindfulness and Mindful Self-Compassion. He is particularly drawn to Mindful Self-Compassion and Lovingkindness practices as paths toward self-acceptance and open-hearted connection with others.

Mark Miller

Mark Miller has been a meditator for 25 years. He has practiced in both the Tibetan (Kagyu) and Insight traditions, and is deeply committed to sharing the power of mindfulness. Mark is currently earning his doctorate in clinical psychology, and enjoys integrating Buddhist and Western psychological perspectives.
